Creep tests were conducted on an AZ 91 alloy reinforced with 20 vol.%Al2O3 short fibres. The values of threshold stresses in creep of the composite at temperatures in the range from 373 to 673 K were estimated using standard methods. It is proposed thatthe threshold stress arises from attractive inteaction between mobile dislocations and Mg-precipitates.
