Hydrogen permeation in alloyed nickel-aluminides influenced by surface reaction.
Original language description
Gas-phase hydrogen permeation in alloyed nickel-aluminides was studied in temperature range 573-1223 K. Dependence of measured permeation flux J on sample thickness d together with temperature dependence of J provide an information on hydrogen transmissivity ? through the surface layer. It was found for Ni3Al-0,1B alloyed with Cr, Fe and Zr, that Zr enhances and, on the contrary, Cr suppreses the inhibiting effect of the surface. The most expressive effect of the Fe additions consists in considerable raised grain boundary brittleness in hydrogen environment.
