The effect of particle distribution in polypropylene composites on mechanical properties
Original language description
Computation of the internal stress and strain fields in the micro-structural level of the composite studied is the first step to understanding the global behaviour of composites based on micro structural morphology. Therefore, a particle reinforced composite has been modelled as a two-phase material with non-homogenously distributed particles and numerically studied on a microscopic scale using finite element modelling. The material properties characterizing polypropylene based composites correspondingto calcium carbonate (CaCO3) and polypropylene at room temperature are used. The effect of the particle distribution in polypropylene composites on mechanical properties is studied and discussed. Suggested methodology can help with more efficient designof the polymer composite.
