Effect of electrophoretic deposition conditions on density of alumina and zirconia nanoparticle deposits
Original language description
Electrophoretic deposition of alumina and zirconia micrometric and nanometric powders from isopropanol suspension in the presence of monochloracetic acid under constant-current conditions was studied. The green density of deposits was described as a function of electric deposition current and particle size. With decreasing electric current during deposition increased green density of deposits. The low electric current during deposition led to the well arranged particle structure on the electrode with small pores and thus to the high green density of deposits. Deposits prepared from nanometric particles revealed lower green density than the deposits of micrometric particles due to the higher amount of liquid in the wet deposit and agglomeration of nanoparticles. The optimum deposition kinetics reflected in higher fired density as far as 99.3%t.d.
