Experiments on ductile fracture behaviour and fracture toughness of low–alloy C–Mn steel
Original language description
The contribution deals with experiments and modelling of ductile fracture behaviour and size effect on fracture toughness of low–alloy C–Mn pipeline steel. Fracture behaviour of the steel was studied at room temperature. Smooth and notched tensile bars were tested in order to describe plasticity and damage at different stress levels. A size effect on J–R curve using three sizes of compact tension specimens was evaluated. The results of tensile tests were analysed by finite element method. Consequently the constitutive equations of the plasticity and the parameters of GTN damage model of ductile fracture were determined. The GTN model was applied to simulate fracture behaviour of used compact tension specimens.
