Study of Surface Tooth Treatment using Low-Vacuum Scanning Electron Microscopy.
Original language description
The Low-Vacuum Scanning Electron Microscope (LVSEM) or the Environmental Scanning Electron Microscope (ESEM) allow the visualisation of specimens that are difficult or impossible to image by a conventional High-Vacuum SEM. These instruments permit pressure of the specimen chamber to range from 1 to over 1000 Pa during operation and create images by detecting backscattered electrons [1] or gaseous ions, which are ionised by secondary electrons from the specimen [2]. These microscopes have the advantage of being free from charging artefacts even in non-conductive materials. Another advantage of the ESEM is the possibility of direct observation of specimens containing different volume of water.
