The brain changes of anisotropy in MAM model of schizophrenia in rat
Original language description
Methylazoxymethanol acetate(MAM)-exposed rats were used to parallel neuropathological abnormalities seen in schizophrenia patients. Corpus callosum (cc), the largest white matter structure in the brain, and anterior commissure (aca) were measured by diffusion tensor imaging(DTI) to verify decreased fractional anisotropy (FA) in white matter tracts connecting frontal and temporal or parietal lobes, suggested to reflect disturbedstructural connectivity and demyelination in schizophrenia [2]. Our aim was to confirm this model by DTI of white matter structures so the MAM-exposed rats could be used for testing new antipsychotic drugs.
