Colloidal optical waveguides structured by light
Original language description
We present experimental study where we employed dualbeam optical trap to study a self-arrangement of microscopic polystyrene particles into linear structures ? colloidal waveguides. We investigated magnitude of optical bound between the particles studying thermal motion of self-arranged particles. Such optically bound linear structures can be understood as colloidal waveguides which selffocus incoming laser light and thus a decreasing of thermal motion of optically bound particles can be observed with increasing number self-arranged particles. Our experimental observations are supported by theoretical model.
