Ultrashort echo-time 2D imaging employingnsingle/double inversion recovery and refocusing-free excitation
Original language description
MRI of short-T2 signals (e.g., cartilage, tendon, bone, myelin) requires submillisecond echo times, which are difficult to achieve with standard 2D MRI due to the need for rampdown and refocusing of the slice-selection gradient, and eliminationnof the overwhelming longer-T2 signals. To avoid the long 3D centrifugal k-space sampling and to ensure efficient long-T2 suppression, we propose a method combining single- or double-inversion recovery (SIR or DIR) preparation of short-T2 magnetization, short VERSEmodifiednhalf-pulse excitation avoiding the need for slice refocusing, and dual-echo 2D radial k-space acquisition with k-trajectoryncompensation.
