Original language description
After a review of psychological ideas documented in connection with important personalities of Czech history since the 14th century, the development of psychology as a science in the sociohistorical context through the centuries is reported. A scientified approach to psychology within the framework of philosophy and physiology, and before the backround of the industrial Revolution, developed in the 19th century at the University of Prague, when it became a separate science. Over time, numerous scientists from abroad contributed to Czech psychology. The 20th century is divided into periods according to the political-historical situation. Focus is on the post-communist period after 1989, in which psychology underwent significant changes and broad development.
