Telling stories is so natural for all human beings that we can think about universality of narrative experience across cultures. A life story is an individual?s narrative perspective of his or her life, or what he or she thinks is significant part of that life. In our study we have compared the life story data of participants aged 60 and above from Europe (the Czech Republic and Germany), Asia (Hong Kong), and Sub-Saharan Africa (Cameroon). We utilised the McAdams Life story interview in order to elicitautobiographical memories. Data was then analysed thematically (inductive approach) in order to identify and report patterns (themes) within the episodes (peak experience, nadir experience, turning point, early memories, cultural expectation etc.) horizontally (across cultures) and vertically (within each culture).
