Introduction: Habituation is a reduction in the response to a stimulus when it is repeated. It has been proposed that signal stimuli (i.e., those important for the individual) become habituated less and more slowly than nonsignal (nonimportant) stimuli.From the empirical studies follow a negative bias of habituation: that negative events elicit more rapid and/or more prominent emotional responses than neutral or positive. However little is known about differences in habituation of this response towardpositive or negative stimuli. Objectives: The objective of this study was to compare subjective evaluation of habituation of affective intensity and affective valence of the reaction to the repeated affective laden stimuli. We hypothesized that habituation toward negative stimuli would be more distinctive than habituation toward positive stimuli.
