Political culture, democratic values and misinformation in Central Europe
Original language description
The paper analyses pilot study of a research project that focuses on identification of different types of political culture in the Visegrad countries and Germany. We examined the link between adherence to democratic values and participants ́ beliefs, information sources and cognitive strategies they use. Within the context of politicalnpsychology, we focused on authoritarianism, populism and tolerance as our aim was to identify not only the nation-specific features, but also possible common characteristics of post-totalitarian societies (in contrast to the sample of former West Germany) seen through the lens of demography. Social cohesion, anomia and powerlessness represented the variables of psychological character.
