Saving European Archaeology from the Digital Dark Age (SEADDA) Management Comittee and WG Meeting
Original language description
The digitisation of society does not spare archaeology and its benefits for the development and growth of the field are obvious. It also brings with it the daily generation of new data in very diverse formats, which are handled in very different ways. But will we be able to work with them in the future and will we even be aware of their existence in the digital space? SEADDA participants are convinced that if the future is not to be a digital dark age, these questions need to be asked now. Throughout the meeting, discussions were carried out within four main thematic working groups, which dealt with (1) archaeological data management, (2) archiving planning, (3) standards, best practices and their dissemination, and (4) the use and re-use of archaeological data.
