The ATRIUM summer school on 3D models in archaeology
Original language description
The article describes the ATRIUM Summer School on 3D Models in Archaeology, which was successfully hosted by the Institute of Archaeology of the Czech Academy of Sciences in Brno (ARÚB) from September 15 to 19, 2025, under the Transnational Access (TNA) scheme of the ATRIUM project. The event brought together 18 international students and researchers from across Europe and Africa. The curriculum focused on the practical application of 3D documentation methodologies in archaeological research, specifically photogrammetry and laser scanning. The program combined theoretical lectures on subjects such as Virtual Archaeology and Historic Building Information Modelling (HBIM) with intensive hands-on training, covering the documentation of both static monuments (Sts Peter and Paul Cathedral, Brno) and small artefacts. Participants gained practical experience in data processing, 3D model creation, and basic editing using professional software, successfully acquiring proficiency in contemporary digital heritage techniques.
