Coins finds and hacked precious metal
Original language description
The coin collection from the central settlement of Němčice nad Hanou comprises approximately 2,700 struck coins, making it the largest assemblage of its kind. One can only estimate how many additional thousands of coins have disappeared into private collections without preserved find provenance. The chapter in the book summarizes the current state of knowledge regarding the coins from this site. It draws on both published finds and a collection from surface surveys, which is still in the process of ongoing evaluation. The core of the examined assemblage consists of coins datable to the LT C horizon. Only 38 coins belong to the LT D horizon, clearly illustrating the site’s dramatic decline. The coin collection is further supplemented by finds of cut precious metal.
