Recently expanding mammal species in the Czech Republic: distribution, abundance and legal status.
Original language description
In the second part of the 20th century, the spontaneous reappearance of several native mammal species (Castor fiber, Canis lupus, Lynx lynx, Ursus arctos, Alces alces) occurred in the Czech Republic (CR). At the same time, several new non-native species(Mustela vison, Nyctereutes procyonoides, Procyon lotor) were recorded for the first time. Currently, the occurrence of European beaver (Castor fiber) has been recorded in 14.3% of the area of the CR, and it occurs regularly in 3.0% of the country.
