Original language description
During the years 1996-2000, a total of 2398 Ixodes ricinus ticks were collected in 3 localities of 2 different regions in the Czech Republic and examined by dark-field microscopy for the presence of spirochetes (borreliae). The mean infection rate was 6.5%. Among 263 male adults of I. ricinus ticks 12.2% were positive, from 289 female adults 8.3% were positive, 1621 nymphs showed 6.0% positivity and among 225 larval I. ricinus ticks 1.3% were positive.
