Effect of cadmium on blood plasma biochemistry in carp (Cyprinus carpio L.)

  • Original language description

After exposure to cadmium a significant increase of glucose concentration was observed. Cortisol concentration in blood plasma was comparable in both the experimental and control groups. Enzyme activities may be also used as a stress indicator. A significant increase of LDH, CK and AST activities in blood plasma of fish exposed to cadmium compared to the control group of fish were measured. On the contrary, values of ALT and also of ALP were comparable in both the experimental and control groups. Totalprotein level, an often measured parameter of metal poisoning in fish, does not allow specifying the direction of these changes. Concentration of electrolytes under study (Ca, P) in blood plasma of both the control and experimental groups are compared. In the experimental groups cadmium caused significantly lower concentration of calcium and significantly higher concentration of phosphorus compared to the control group. Cadmium was the highest in kidney of fish exposed to cadmium.

  • Czech name

Vliv kadmia na biochemii krevní plasmy u kapra obecného (Cyprinus carpio L.)

  • Czech description

Naproti tomu hodnoty ALT a ALP byly srovnatelné u experimentální i u kontrolní skupiny. Hladina celkových proteinů, která indikuje otravy kovy u ryb, neumožnila expozici ryb v kadmiu specifikovat. V experimentálních skupinách kadmium způsobovalo nižší koncentraci vápníku a průkazně vyšší koncentraci fosforu v krevní plasmě ve srovnání s kontrolní skupinou. Vyšší obsah kadmia byl zjištěn v ledvinách ryb vystavených působení kadmia.
