Original language description
The mine waste heap Katerina near the village Radvanice in North Bohemia Region was under operation for several decades of years. The waste material consisted of waste rocks with high parts of coal substance. The waste heap was inconvenient and danger for the environment not only during the working period, but particularly after the closing of the mine, roo. Therefore, it was decided to solve the problem of the burning mine waste heap using total reconstruction of the heap, because the earlier experiments with the local fithing of the fire have not been succesful. The total reconstruction was based on a stepwise taking down of the old heap, cooling the hot and burning waste material and its deposition into airtight constructed cassettes. Recently, thereconstruction of mine waste heap is nearly finished. The conditions, main pieces of knowledge and experiences from the reconstruction are described in the paper.

Asanace a rekonstrukce hořícího odvalu Kateřina v severních Čechách
Czech description
Odval z uhelného dolu Kateřina, který se nachází v blízkosti obce Radvanice v severních Čechách byl provozován několik desítek let. Haldovina sestává z hlušiny s vysokých podílem uhelné substance. Odval byl z hlediska životního prostředí škodlivý a nebezpečný nejen v době provozu dolu, ale i po jeho uzavření. Protože pokusy s lokálním uhašením hořících partií nebyly v minulosti úspěšné, bylo rozhodnuto vyřešit problém pomocí totální rekonstrukce odvalu. Rekonstrukce spočívala v postupném odtěžování starého odvalu, ochlazování horké a hořící haldoviny a jejího nového uložení do vzduchotěsných kaset. V současnosti je rekonstrukce odvalu téměř ukončena. V přednášce jsou popsány podmínky rekonstrukce a hlavní získané poznatky a zkušenosti.
