It has been the 7th follow-up of geographical conferences organized since 1995 by our institution - Department of Environmental Geography of the Institute of Geonics (the Brno branch), Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, every unpaired year, whichfollows the tradition of biennial international meetings of geographers and other scientists engaged in regional problems. This time (August 27-31) the conference came back to the heart of Moravia, to Brno. The individual papers have related to the issues thematically reflecting the proposed themes: Regional Economy and Policy in Integrating Europe, Regionalisation and Cross-border Cooperation, Changes of Society in Urban and Rural Context, Human Impacts on Landscape and Environment from the Regional Perspective, and Landscape Planning and Environmental Protection.

Czech description
Nejdůležitější mezinárodní akcí brněnské geografické pobočky Ústavu geoniky jsou geografické konference CONGEO, které jsou pořádány vždy v lichých letech. Tyto konference již představují tradici mezinárodních konferencí, pořádaných pro několik desítek odborníků v geografii a regionálních disciplínách. Vytvořila se kolem nich malá mezinárodní skupina pravidelných účastníků, která se stala základem i pro další spolupráce a mezinárodní projekty. Letos proběhlo v městě Brně již 7. pokračování konference. Jednotlivé příspěvky svou problematikou a zaměřením reflektovaly tato témata: Regional Economy and Policy in Integrating Europe, Regionalisation and Cross-border Cooperation, Changes of Society in Urban and Rural Context, Human Impacts on Landscape and Environment from the Regional Perspective, and Landscape Planning and Environmental Protection.
