Settlement problems in the Czech borderland

The paper deals with border regions of the Czech Republic. There were delimited 110 micro-regions in the borderland. Urbanized part of the borderland was excluded. Following indicators were used for the analysis: the population development between censes1991 and 2001, age index, share of people with post-secondary education, national structure, share of population employed in primary sector, share of flats built after 1945, share of uninhabited flats, equipment with technical infrastructure and socialservices, unemployment. Qualification of people was identified as the main problem of the Czech rural borderland. It is closely connected with the social infrastructure. Micro-regions with centres under 2,500 inhabitants are considered for the most problematic.

Czech description

Příspěvek pojednává o pohraničních regionech České republiky. Bylo vyčleněno 110 mikroregionů. Urbanizovaná část pohraničí byla vyloučena. Pro analýzu bylo využito následujících indikátorů: populační vývoj mezi cenzy 1991 a 2001, index stáří, podíl osobs pomaturitním vzděláním, národnostní struktura, podíl osob zaměstnaných v primárním sektoru, podíl bytů postavených po roce 1945, podíl neobydlených bytů, vybavenost sociální a technickou infrastrukturou, nezaměstnanost. Za hlavní problém pohraničních mikroregionů byla označena špatná kvalifikační struktura, což je úzce spojeno s vybaveností sociální infrastrukturou. Za nejproblematičtější jsou považovány mikroregiony s centry menšími než 2500 obyvatel.
