Structural Control and Human Impacts on the Opava River Fluvial System, Czech Republic
Original language description
In this observational study, zones of the Opava River fluvial system are defined and features of upstream, as well as local, controls either by bedrock or tectonics and consequences of human impacts on river variability are determined. The source zone was notably affected by geological structure where both the inherited domal tectonic structure and the passive tectonic structure show. Passive block structure affected the river pattern and active tectonic channel gradients as well as channel morphology.Together with periglacial covers, medieval alluvial placers arisen in valleys at the time of gold extraction supplied latter river channels with material at peak flows . The transfer zone is well defined, by besides a single thread channel, by a gravel bed and diagonal bar development as well as other typical features of a wandering river.
