Suggestion of Complex Monitoring of Undermined Territory
Original language description
Underground mining of coal deposits in Ostrava-Karvina region causes movements and deformations on the surface where a subsidence depression starts to develop. Real displays of undermining can be only found out by repeated in situ measurements; geodeticand geophysical methods can be used. Photogrammetry enables to observe the whole subsidence depression and to create digital terrain model. GPS is used to monitor both vertical and horizontal surface changes. Levelling is used to find out even small changes, but only in vertical subsidence. Therefore, GPS is generally used to monitor the subsidence depression in its whole extent, while levelling is used to specify small height changes near the margin of the subsidence depression. Geophysical methods maycontribute to the monitoring of the undermined territory and they may enable to understand the processes induced by underground mining in the rock massif.
