X-ray Computed Tomography of the Buckle-plate
Original language description
One of the methods used to study the buckle-plate from the jewellery hoard (which contained two other parts of the buckle and a complete ring) was industrial X-ray computed micro-tomography. This method has recently been increasingly used in various fields for the study and analysis of the internal structure, dimensional control and defectoscopy of objects under examination in the fields of engineering, geosciences, museology, biology, etc Last but not least, tomographic data is often used for example for 3D printing purposes. The industrial X-ray computed tomography (CT) method allows detailed spatial imaging of the object under investigation in a non-destructive manner using appropriately oriented 2D tomographic cross-sections.
