Original language description
This paper deals with the penetration of Italian city-states in the Mongol Empire in the 12th and 13 century. Enlargement of the European market, the growth of trade with the East, raids into the rich areas in Syria, Palestine, Asia Minor and the Balkansin the 14th contributed century to the flourishing Italian cities, which was located at the crossroads of major routes in the Mediterranean. In particular, the Genoese colony, factories and major trading post became the bases of order missions.
