Original language description
Základní údaje: Reading Rakhamim: The Bukharan Jewish Newspaper Rakhamim (1910–14).n[At the Crossroads. Turan University Almaty, 06.06.2025-08.06.2025] The Bukharan Jewish periodical Rakhamim emerged in a complex, multilingual, and politically charged environment. In addition to Hebrew and Russian, many colloquial forms and local elements of Central Asian Persian are found in it in printed form. Many of these elements also appear in the written languages introduced and developed in the 1920s under Soviet auspices for the Tajiks and the Bukharan Jews. We also find them in the standard written Tajik language of today. Beyond its linguistic significance, the journal is also of great historical interest.
