China’s Transnational Repression (CTR) on Uyghur Diaspora and Its New Forms
Original language description
The particularity of China’s transnational repression (CTR) is that it ntargets all diasporic members who are citizens of the People’s Republic, nand it targets foreign citizens, not only of Uyghur ethnicity or those who nwere Chinese citizens in the past, but even other foreign citizens who nare committed to human rights—particularly those of Uyghurs. Thus, in nrecent years, we have seen many incidents produced by Chinese represenntatives or their institutions abroad against citizens of the host countries. nAmong the new strategies of CTR and a new technique that has emerged nover recent years, there is the use of legal tools in democratic countries nto attack figures, researchers, or activists who are nationals of the host ncountry.
