Multilingualism in Medieval and Early Modern Europe
Original language description
The colloquium enabled the meeting of Czech and foreign experts whose research topic is somehow linked with multilingualism in Medieval and Early Modern Europe. A specific feature of the event was the confrontation of methodological approaches to the research of the historical linguistic situation of both Byzantine-Slavic Europe and Latin West. These two groups of scholars usually do not cooperate, although researchers are basically dealing with the same questions. At the colloquium, the discussion concerned, among others, the coexistence of Latin and Central European languages, Church Slavonic and Romanian, Greek and Slavic languages, Hebrew and Czech, English and Old Norse.
