Original language description
The article summarises all previously published methodological and typological approaches to the conceptualisation of the Crimean and Caucasian themes in Russian literature. The main difference is that Crimea was considered a ‘separate’ territory, whereas the Caucasus was perceived as something foreign or exotic. This difference results in the literary strategies by which both territories were (not only) literarily appropriated. Finally, the Russian literary reflection of the Black Sea is mentioned, which predominantly bears imperial traits.
