First we comment issue of social capital and third sector in the Czech Republic with specific focus on NGOs, civic participation and social trust. Public policy in the civic sector is discussed. Literature (academic as well as gray) on five specific policy elements is reviewed: pre-school childcare, combating under-education and truancy, work-life balance, impact of retirement on releasing social capital, impact of social capital on preventing/delaying old age dependency.
