Original language description

The purpose of the national report (EGGSIE - Group of experts on Gender, Social Inclusion and Employment) is to inform the Commission ( Equality Unit and country desk) as to: an evaluation of the gender mainstreaming contained in the Common Overview andthe National Action Plan on inclusion of the in the National Report on Strategies for Social Protection and Social Inclusion 2006. The new streamlined Open Method of Coordination on Social Protection and Social Inclusion means that the arrangements for the NAPs/social inclusion have been reformed for 2006 onwards. Member States are now charged with submitting an integrated National Report on Strategies for Social Protection and Social Inclusion for the period 2006-08. Gender mainstreaming is not visibleat all in the "Common Overview" and the "National Action Plans for Inclusion" even though there is a special short chapter suggesting that it has been applied.
