Preparation for the CR?s accession to the EU was the most important legitimizing force to promote gender equality in the country. Attitudes of the EU and Czech governmental officials and politicians towards gender equality together with changes in financial sources for Czech women?s NGOs, were the most important factors that shaped both the character of the promotion of gender equality and the possibilities and obstacles women?s civic groups faced in the promotion of their goals.

Příprava ČR na vstup do EU byla nejdůležitější legitimizační silou k prosazování genderové rovnosti v zemi. Postoje politiků a vládních úředníků v ČR i EU k genderové rovnosti spolu se změnami ve financování českých ženských neziskových organizací byli nejdůležitějšími faktory, které ovlivnily charakter podpory genderové rovnosti a možností a překážek, kterým byly ženské skupiny během přístupových jednání vystaveny.
