Regulation of Abortion as State-Socialist Governmentality: The Case of Czechoslovakia

  • Original language description

This paper analyses the legal and political regulation of abortion in state-socialist Czechoslovakia from the perspective of Foucault´s theory of biopower and governmentality. Abortion regulation is an example of the way in which bodies and corporality were governed in order to shape the population according to a specific rationality intended to strengthen the state and its power.
