Original language description
This review provides a comparative account of two books which focus on the role of home in the contemporary society: Reimagining home in the 21st century edited by Justine Lloyd and Ellie Vasta and The Home: Multidisciplinary Reflections edited by Antonio Argandona. The aim of this review is not only recounting the content of the books, but also raising the question of how these volumes might help us understand the character of contemporary home(s) in relation to crucial housing issues such as the financialisation of housing, dis- mantling of the public housing systems and decreasing affordability of home-ownership for young generations. In other words, to what extent the authors proved that home may serve as a central analytical category for understanding the position of households in contemporary societies.
