The aim of the online conference was to bring together scholars researching the DIY practices (and artefacts) in the European context and discuss the theoretical and empirical implication of such a research for a wider anthropological / social scientific endeavour. The conference put a particular emphasis on the issues of continuity and discontinuity, societal (and socio-economic) change as well as various conceptions of modernity and how they impact and are reflected in the practices of DIY making.
