How many modernisms do we have.
Original language description
A reflection on Steve Mansbach's interview (Praesens 2003/1) and his main thesis that there are many avant-gardes and modernisms in Central/Eastern Europe. Questions as to whether it is possible to use as an argument the specificity of modernism e.g. inthe Czech interwar art (Jewish artists, Russian and Ukrainian emigrants), in art during the protectorate period (conservative modernism?) and in the 1950s (socialist modernism?).
