The exhibition explores the idea of community between art and music that was stirring the artistic minds in Europe in the early 20th Century. It also reveals creative ideas and spiritual ties that linked Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis (1875?1911), thegreat Lithuanian painter and composer, with his contemporaries in West and Central Europe. From the 19th Century, the variety of approaches to the synthesis of painting and music in European art was growing and spreading, not from one particular centretowards its periphery, sparkled in numerous art centres from Paris to Saint Petersburg, from Oslo to Vienna. The exhibition showcase artworks by Ilmari Aalto, Alexandr Benua, Wassily Kandinsky, P?teris Krasti?š, František Kupka, Edvard Munch, Ferdynand Ruszczyc, Stanisław Wyspiański and other renowned European artists, and music works by Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis, his contemporary Arnold Schönberg, and others.
