The article is focused on the emblematic work of the German Jesuit Jacob Masen, who offered an elaborated and complex of "figurative" (metaphorical)images in his book Specullum Imaginum Veritatis Occultae. The article deals also with the reflexion of Masen´s treatise in the ceiling painting in the Church of the Visitation of Virgin Mary at Holly Hill near Olomouc, from ca. 1675.
