The conference was organized on the occasion of the 120th anniversary of the birthday and the 40th anniversary of the death of the Czech photographer, Josef Sudek (1896–1976). It was designed to examine questions of photographic reproductions of art, assessed problems of intersections of photography and art, explored theoretical and aesthetical aspects of interpretation and investigated methodological strategies analyzing the role of photographic reproduction of art in shaping the discipline of Art History. Additionally, new research on the Institute´s collection of Sudek photographs and case studies introducing Sudek´s less examined professional works within an international context were introduced. Both Czech and international scholars and curators attended the conference.
