The Carolingian Gospel Book Cim 2 in Prague Cathedral and a Search of Bohemian Coronation Gospel
Original language description
The article deals with the late Carolingian Gospel Cim 2, which is preserved in the library of the Prague metropolitan chapter. It focuses on the later fate of this manuscript. In 1368, the precious Gospels of John of Troppau (ÖNB, Cod. 1182) was created in the royal workshop on the commission of Austrian Duke Albrecht III. The illuminators used as one model also the Gospel Cim 2. Why just this manuscript? Probably Albrecht wanted to imitate the manuscript, which played some prominent role in Prague's cathedral liturgy. We could conclude that Cim 2 was used during the coronation of Georg of Poděbrady as coronation Gospels.
