Targeted disruption of fibroblast growth factor receptor 1 blocks maturation of visceral endoderm and cavitation in embryoid bodies.

  • Original language description

Study analyzes the effects of the absence of basic fibroblast growth factor receptor (FGFR-1) in mouse embryonic stem cells using embryoid bodies as a model. The results show that FGFR-1 deficiency results in defect in visceral endoderm maturation that most likely underlies the previously found abnormalities in mesoderm formation.
