Effects of 1,2-dibromoethane on haematopoiesis in the chick embryo.

  • Original language description

Chick embryo in ovo was shown to be a promising system to study the effect of 1,2-dibromoethane (DBE) on haematopoiesis at a developmental stage where the primitive erythroid cells divide and differentiate in circulation. The rapid deleterious effects ofDBE on haematopoietic cells of developing organisms was found, the persistence of DNA damage in individuals long after DBE exposure was also observed.
