Mice with astrocyte-directed inactivation of connexin43 exhibit increased exploratory behaviour, impaired motor capacities, and changes in brain acetylcholine levels.

  • Original language description

We investigated the effects of the astrocyte-directed inactivation of Cx43 (gap junctions forming connexin protein) on mouse behaviour and brain neurochemistry. Transgenic animals showed increased exploration in the open field and steeper learning coursein water maze, they showed increased acetylcholine content in the frontal cortex.
