Developmental disorders of the dentition: An update

  • Original language description

The paper is a review of the literature concerning developmental disorders of the dentition, genetic causes of abnormal tooth development in humans and the implications of these abnormalities for clinical care. The authors focused also on tooth development in mouse and zebrafish as a model of odontogenesis. Dental anomalies are common congenital malformations that can occur either as isolated findings or as part of a syndrome. This review desrcibes tooth agenesis holoprosencephaly, and tooth anomalies associated with cleft lip and palate, delayed formation and eruption of teeth, as well as abnormalities in tooth size, shape, and form, causes of supernumerary teeth are considered.
