O 17 - MiR137 and the production of mucin: a potential tool in early diagnosis of colorectal cancer
Original language description
Mucins are glycoproteins in the bowel responsible for lubrication and antimicrobial defence. Altered mucin expression emerges as a feature of precancerous and cancer cell. The aim of our study was to investigate mechanisms of action of several distinct glycoproteins. Our findings support concept of proinflamatory and tumour promoting role of overexpressed MUC13 in CRC, while downregulation is associated with potentially less harmful genetic imprint and may influence the disease prognosis.
