An ex vivo model to study v-Myb-induced leukemogenicity.
Original language description
The v-Myb oncoprotein transforms myeloid cells and induces acute monoblastic leukemia in chickens. We found that deletion of v-Myb PEST-like (P1) domain almost eliminates presence of leukemic monoblasts in the peripheral blood but not their accumulationin the bone marrow (BM). Ex vivo experiments used to compare wild type (wt) and .delta.P1 v-Myb BM monoblasts led to the conclusion that leukemia formation requires the growth factor independency and specific adhesion properties induced in monoblasts bywt v-Myb.
