Use of allogeneic human keratinocytes cultured on dried porcine dermis in the treatment of burns.
Original language description
The absence of the dermal component predisposes sultured keratinocyte sheets to instability, contractibility, and difficult handling. In order to overxome these disadvantages, we developed recombined human/pig skin (RHPS) composed of human keratinocytescultured on acellular pig dermis. The RHPS is applied 'upside-down', with the epidermal cells facing the wound. Thus RHPS serves in this way as an effective keratinocyte delivery system. It has been proved that keratinocytes can migrate from the invertedRHPS with allogeneic keratinocytes allows early grafting without riquiring dispase digestion to release the graft from the dish.
