EMBO Young Investigator PhD Course 2009

The EMBO Young Investigator PhD course is annually organized by the Young Investigators for 36 selected PhD students. The objective of the course is to provide students with a broad overview in different areas of biological sciences, with some practicalaspects taught in the form of tutorials. Each student also presents his/her research project in a journal club-like format with a poster. A grant proposal is prepared by the students. Proposals are presented and discussed at the end of the course to prepare students to write their own competitive proposals in the future. Training sessions include sessions on presentation skills, thesis management, scientific writing and session on how to talk about your science to the non-scientist. A round table discussion on Careers in academic science rounds off the course.
