This was the first meeting of working group (WG) 1 (?Physiological and pathophysiological importance of mast cells and basophils in health and disease) within COST BM1007. The aim of the meeting was to discuss the present and future activities of WG1 andfuture cooperation with WG2 and WG3. The meeting was divided into several sections in which country representatives gave short talks about their activities within the COST BM1007 project with emphasis on possible collaborations, Short-Term Scientific Missions (STSMs), joint grants, new methodologies, and unique reagents and new results in the research of mast cells and basophils (MC&B) in the participants? laboratories.
